Titans Earn Fourth Place After Strong Finish At St. Kate's Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team shaved 30 strokes off its first-round score to move up four places and finish fourth among 12 squads at the St. Kate's Fall Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 21-22) at The Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh, which competed without the services of its number-two golfer, Erika Priebe, totaled 650 strokes (74-over-par) during the 36-hole tournament. The Titans tallied 310 strokes over the final 18 holes played Sunday after counting 340 strokes for the previous 18 holes played Saturday.

Bethel University (Minn.) captured the team title with 622 strokes (46-over-par). The Royals were followed by second-place Carleton College (Minn.) with 635, third-place and tournament host St. Catherine University (Minn.) with 644, fourth-place UW-Oshkosh and fifth-place UW-Stout with 654.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of golfers finish in the top 10 individual listings as Hannah Braun placed fourth with 154 strokes and Hanna Rebholz ninth with 158. Both players improved their daily scores by numerous counts, with Braun going from 81 strokes on the first day to 73 on the second and Rebholz going from 82 to 76.

Braun recorded four birdies and 21 pars in the tournament while Rebholz marked two birdies and 22 pars.

The Titans also had Lauryn Davis and Margherite Pettenuzzo tie for 28th place with 169 strokes. Davis, who improved her daily score from 91 to 78, had two birdies and 16 pars in the tournament. Pettenuzzo took three strokes off her daily score by going from 86 to 83. She concluded the tournament with one birdie and 17 pars.

UW-Oshkosh's Megan Footit added a 68th-place score of 194 strokes. Footit had two birdies and six pars.

Kristin Miyagi of Carleton College and Anna Tollefson of Bethel University tied for the individual title with 150 strokes (six-over-par). Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton College finished a close third among the tournament's 74 golfers with 151 strokes.

Bethel University's Katie Engelking compiled 154 strokes to tie UW-Oshkosh's Braun for fourth place.

UW-Oshkosh will compete this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 28-29) at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will be contested at the Stevens Point Country Club.
