UW-Oshkosh's Amanda Van Den Plas and Lauren Wrensch were event winners as the Titans finished fifth among 10 women's track & field teams at the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational held Saturday (Feb. 9) in Whitewater.

Van Den Plas defeated 24 other challengers, including seven from both Carthage College and Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.), to win the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:35.13. Her performance was nearly eight seconds faster than the second-place time of 10:42.26 run by Sophie Young of Washington University in St. Louis.

Wrensch beat 33 other participants in the long jump with her winning leap of 18-9 3/4. Wrensch's converted time of 57.28 seconds in the 400-meter run ranks 10th in the country this indoor season.
