Titans Sail Away From Vikings

Ryan Ronayne (Jr. • Fond du Lac) won two events and swam on the triumphant 200-yard freestyle relay squad during UW-Oshkosh's 139-80 victory over the Lawrence University men's swimming and diving team on Friday (Dec. 9) in Appleton.

Grouping with Zachary Hahn (Fr. • Hartford), Quin Lenz (So. • Oshkosh) and Bobby Theer (Fr. • Green Oaks, Ill.), Ronayne's quartet captured the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.94. Ronayne added victories with times of 22.83 in the 50-yard freestyle and 5:34.62 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Two other Titans, Dalton Anderson (Jr. • Elkhorn) and Phil Devine (Sr. • Winnebago, Ill.), posted a pair of first-place results. Anderson won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.41 and the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 50.75. Devine counted his wins in the one- and three-meter diving, with scores of 326.03 and 380.18, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh dominated the freestyle races with three additional victories. Matt Engelhardt (Jr. • DeForest) earned the 100-yard title with a time of 52.21, while Hahn prevailed with a figure of 11:08.16 at 1,000 yards and Lenz with a performance of 1:56.68 at 200 yards.

The 200-yard medley relay squad of Anderson, Engelhgardt, Eddie Dominguez (Jr. • Greendale) and Evan DuVall (Fr. • Sussex came in second place with its time of 1:47.40. DuVall took second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.02, as did Theer in the 500-yard freestyle with an effort of 5:35.36.

Dominguez notched third-place results in both the 50- and 500-yard freestyle with time of 23.97 and 5:36.85, respectively.
Other showings of third place came from Elliott Bartheld (Fr. • Onalaska) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.42, Josh Dean (Fr. • Fond du Lac) in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:10.70 and Engelhardt in the 200-yard individual medley with a performance of 2:11.86.

The Titans will train in Florida from Dec. 15-23 before competing at UW-La Crosse on Jan. 14.
