UW-Oshkosh has a long history of both successful and long-tenured head coaches. In all, 23 UW-Oshkosh head coaches have reached at least 100 victories in 10 sports, including four coaches in both men's and women's basketball. Three coaches have reached at least 500 wins.
Tom Lechnir is the winningest coach in school history, leading the baseball team to 728 wins from 1989-2013.
Robert Kolf (men's basketball) was the first coach to both 100 and 200 wins, Russ Tiedemann (baseball) was the first to 300, 400 and 500 wins, Marty Petersen (women's volleyball) was the first to 600 wins, and Lechnir is the only coach to reach 700 wins.
Steve Francour is the only coach to own at least 100 wins in two sports at UW-Oshkosh: men's tennis and women's tennis.
