In the final match of the day, Adam Kasper (Jr. • Franklin) and Aidan Sauberlich (Fr. • Green Bay) posted a doubles victory to clinch UW-Oshkosh's 5-4 win over the Augustana College (S.D.) men's tennis team on Monday (March 19) in Orlando, Fla.
The No. 2 tandem of Kasper and Sauberlich defeated Jackson Buchanan and Neal Gregerson, 8-4, to earn UW-Oshkosh (5-7) the victory. Sauberlich contributed another key team point when he battled back to oust Buchanan at No. 3 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Other Titans to win in singles play were Kasper by a 6-2, 6-1 result over Max Eckrich in the fifth flight and Josh Hopfensperger (So. • Neenah) by a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Dane Rasmussen in the sixth.
The top doubles flight went in UW-Oshkosh's favor as Bobby Brooks (So. • Neenah) and Kevin Lewis (So. • Howard) nipped Mitchell Barr and Jared Drenkow, 8-6. Augustana College (4-3) had three winners in singles play, including Drenkow who posted a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Brooks in the first flight.
The NCAA Division II Vikings also received individual wins from Barr in the second flight and Gregerson in the fourth. Barr edged Lewis, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, while Gregerson downed Jason Alexander (So. • Fond du Lac), 6-0, 7-5.
Augustana College prevailed at No. 3 doubles as Rasmussen and Colan Surratt defeated Anthony Greco (So. • Kenosha) and David LaGrange (Fr. • Onalaska), 8-4.
UW-Oshkosh has a meeting with Calvin College (Mich.) on Tuesday (March 20) in Orlando.
