UW-Oshkosh had little difficulty as it recorded men's tennis victories of 9-0 over Edgewood College and 7-2 over Lawrence University on Saturday (Feb. 9) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
UW-Oshkosh (2-1) swept Edgewood College (0-6) in the opener behind the 6-0, 6-0 shutouts of Mike Gillespie (So. • De Pere) and Kinan Al-Bitar (Jr. • Oshkosh). Gillespie defeated Michael Wanta in the fourth flight while Al-Bitar ousted Tyler Thompson in the sixth.
The Titans' Kevin Lewis (Jr. • Howard) won at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Eric Gavinski and Aidan Sauberlich (So. • Green Bay) at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 verdict over Tim Morgan.
Other individual winners for the Titans were Bobby Brooks (Jr. • Neenah) in the first flight and Anthony Greco (Jr. • Kenosha) in the fifth. Both players won by 6-2, 6-4 scores, with Brooks defeating Patrick Lagman and Greco ousting Ben Pratscher.
UW-Oshkosh won all three doubles contests against the Eagles by 8-1 scores. Victories went to Brooks and Lewis over Gavinski and Morgan in the first flight, Adam Kasper (Sr. • Franklin) & Alex Yang (Fr. • Milwaukee) over Lagman and Wanta in the second and Charlie Bostwick (Fr. • Whitefish Bay) and Ross Kohlhase (Jr. • Green Bay) over Pratscher and Thompson in the third.
UW-Oshkosh again won all three doubles matches in its win over Lawrence University (1-1).
Brooks and Lewis marked an 8-1 victory over Jason Dunn and Max Zlevor in the first flight, while Gilespie and Sauberlich in the second flight and Kasper and Yang in the third posted 8-1 wins. Gillespie and Sauberlich beat Jeremy Andereck and Cooper Smith, while Kasper and Yang topped Brian DeCorte and Craig Sherwood.
The Titans won at the two highest levels of singles play as Brooks defeated Smith, 3-6, 6-1 (10-3), in the first flight and Lewis conquered Dunn, 6-4, 6-4, in the second.
UW-Oshkosh's remaining individual victories went to Gillespie in the fourth flight and Kasper in the fifth. Gillespie whipped Sherwood, 6-1, 6-0, while Kasper clobbered DeCorte, 6-1, 6-3.
Lawrence University earned its team points on wins by Zlevor at No. 3 singles and Andereck at No. 6 singles. Zlevor defeated Sauberlich, 7-6, 6-2, while Andereck beat Yang, 6-2, 6-4.
UW-Oshkosh plays at UW-Whitewater and against Grinnell College (Iowa) in Janesville on Friday (Feb. 15).
