20th-Ranked Vikings Rally To Defeat Titans

Nationally ranked North Park University (Ill.) scored three consecutive goals, including the match winner during the second overtime period, to defeat the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team, 3-2, on Tuesday (Sept. 23) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Following a scoreless first overtime session, Pedram Tahmi-Masolah won the match for the Vikings on a 20-yard kick to the top left corner of the goal with just 1:43 to play. His game-winning boot came off a pass from Stany Lokamba.

Trailing 2-1, North Park University (6-1) sent the game to overtime on Kebba Sanyang's one-yard tap with 2:25 left in regulation. Lokamba earned his first assist of the match on the play.

UW-Oshkosh (4-4-1) got ahead from the start as Matt Cheaney scored off a serve from Trent Allison just 80 seconds into the contest. Cheaney's six-yard kick was his first goal of the season.

UW-Oshkosh took a 2-0 lead when Javier Simon scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season off a pass from Michael Dugan in the 53rd minute (52:13). Simon's right-to-left shot came from 10-yards out.

The Titans controlled the ball for most of the opening period and took a 2-0 lead to intermission. UW-Oshkosh posted first-half advantages of 10-3 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks.

North Park University, which entered the contest ranked 20th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, cut UW-Oshkosh's lead in half during the 56th minute (55:29). Tahmi-Masolah scored for the Vikings on a 15-yard kick that followed a pass from Sanyang.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 17 shots for the match, including three by Jonathan Stanley and two each from Cheaney, Hans Becker, Nick Gonzalez and Danny Kobin.

North Park University compiled 11 shots for the contest, including five by Tahmi-Mesolah and two each from Fredrik Greiff and Diego Lashlee.

Both teams earned six corner kick opportunities. In overtime, both teams were credited with three shots.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska saved one of the four shots he faced. North Park University's Wesley Woodley stopped four shots and allowed both UW-Oshkosh goals. The Vikings also had a defender block a shot in the goalie box.

The Titans play a pair of home matches this weekend, hosting Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday (Sept. 27) and Carroll University on Sunday (Sept. 28) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
