Titans Score Six Times During Shutout Victory

Box Score

The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team recorded a season high for goals during its 6-0 victory over Central College (Iowa) on Sunday (Sept. 20) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Elias Efthimiou accounted for a third of the Titans' scoring with goals in the 54th (53:12) and 62nd (61:44) minute of play.

Efthimiou registered his first goal on a 15-yard kick and his second on an eight-yard boot. Malcolm Jeffris assisted on Efthimiou's first goal and Jakub Rys on the second.

UW-Oshkosh (5-1-1) took a 1-0 lead when Jacob Hernandez followed a pass from Efthimiou with a 12-yard kick into the net during the game's 19th minute (18:22).

Four minutes later (22:24), UW-Oshkosh extended its lead when Rys followed a serve from Jeffris with a 15-yard kick into the goal.

After the two goals by Efthimiou, the Titans made the score 5-0 on a 10-yard kick into the net by Nick Harenda. Harenda's boot during the 63rd minute (62:24) came after he received a cross from Karl Bock.

UW-Oshkosh closed its scoring on a 3-yard tap by Elijah Tesch in the 72nd minute (71:36). Tesch's score came after a scramble for the ball in front of the Central College goal.

Central College (3-5) was held to just three shots in the contest, including a penalty kick by Zach Butters that was saved by UW-Oshkosh substitute goalkeeper Kevin Schenk with 19:36 left. The block preserved the Titans' sixth straight shutout, their longest streak since 2010.

UW-Oshkosh ended the game with a 23-3 advantage in shots and took all 14 of the contest's corner kicks.

A total of 14 players attempted shots for UW-Oshkosh, including Hernandez who led the Titans with three. Butters owned two of Central College's three shots.

Sam Gabrilska started at goalkeeper for the Titans and didn't face a shot during his 65 minutes of action. Schenk's lone save during his 25 minutes of activity was the one on the Central College penalty kick.

Central College evenly split its goalkeeping duties, with Josh Carpenter saving four shots in the first half and Austin Little five in the second.

UW-Oshkosh plays its next two matches on the road, with the first one coming at Lakeland College on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
