Alex Jernberg won the 500-yard freestyle and finished second in three other events to pace UW-Oshkosh during its 143-82 loss to the UW-Stevens Point men's swimming & diving team on Friday (Jan. 14) in Stevens Point.
Jernberg defeated his challengers in the 500-yard freestyle with a winning time of 5:06.80 while placing second in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 1,000-yard freestyle with performances of 1:02.56 and 10:36.09, respectively. UW-Stevens Point's Beckett McGraw finished second to Jernberg in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:08.50.
Jernberg additionally helped teammates Andrew Copeland, Drew Davis and Chase Millam to a second-place time of 3:29.09 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Titans' 13 second-place finishes also included a pair from Hayden Freeman, Matt Holst and Cade Millam.
Freeman recorded butterfly times of 59.86 seconds at 100 and 2:11.60 at 200 yards while Holst registered backstroke swims of 1:03.98 at 100 and 2:22.61 at 200 yards. Cade Millam posted times of 2:25.18 in the 200-yard individual medley and 2:39.06 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
UW-Oshkosh likewise received second-place times of 23.55 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle from Davis, 51.73 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle from Chase Millam and 1:55.39 in the 200-yard freestyle from Ben Knoeck.
The Titans' 400-yard medley relay team of Freeman, Host, Knoeck and Cade Millam placed second with a time of 4:09.97.
UW-Oshkosh's five third-place finishes featured a pair from Chase Millam. He earned his listings with times of 23.72 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:06.09 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Also finishing third for the Titans were Copeland in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.71, Davis in the 200-yard freestyle with a performance of 1:57.92 and Knoeck in the 100-yard freestyle with a swim of 23.72 seconds.
UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place results involved the times of 23.80 seconds by Copeland in the 50-yard freestyle, 53.32 seconds by Davis in the 100-yard freestyle and 1:11.761 in the 100-yard breaststroke by Cade Millam.
The Titans competed in the meet with a limited roster due to COVID-19 protocols.
UW-Oshkosh's contest against Carthage College on Saturday (Jan. 15) in Albee Hall has been canceled. The Titans are scheduled to host UW-La Crosse on Jan. 22 in their next meet.
