Warhawks Edge Titans In League Dual

WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team was edged 120.5-122.5 by UW-Whitewater in a WIAC dual on the road on Friday night (Nov. 8).
 
Francesca Schiro (Sr. • New Glarus) won two individual events and was a member of the second place 200-yard freestyle relay squad. She won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.90 seconds, the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.73, and helped the Cadence Showalter (Sr. • Naperville, Ill.), Kori Burnett (Fr. • Beloit), and Rowan Sinclair (Fr. • Temecula, Calif.) to second in the relay in 1:43.63.
 
Sinclair also grabbed a pair of event wins herself. She won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.10 and the 400-yard individual medley in 4:54.65. The second and third places in the individual medley went to Showalter in 4:57.88 and Sienna Della-Peruta (So. • Grayslake, Ill.) in 5:00.19.
 
UW-Oshkosh took first and third in both diving events on Friday. Maya Indiraraj (Jr. • West Bend) won the 1-meter diving with 205.28 points and the 3-meter diving with 222.23 points. Gia Migliorese (Sr. • New Lenox, Ill.) was the third-place finisher at 1 meters (159.23) and Paige Vitek (So. • Raymond) at 3 meters (154.20).
 
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Brianna Wesenberg (Jr. • Ripon) won with an 11:28.07 finish and Layla Ogango (So. • Leesburg, Va.) took third in 12:07.78.
 
The Titans' final first-place finish came in the 100-yard backstroke as Della-Peruta finished the event in 1:02.34.
 
Showalter added a top-2 position in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:29.85.
 
Burnett and Kylee Dinninger (So. • DeWitt, Mich.) collected third place in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke with 26.12-second and 1:18.01 finishes.
 
Della-Peruta, Payton Purdy (Fr. • Sterling, Ill.), Bella Cichon (So. • Manhattan, Ill.), and Elsa Piering (Fr. • Hartland) placed third in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:03.18.
 
The Titans will compete in the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 9).
