NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team traveled out to Northfield, Minn. for the Running of the Cows, hosted by Carleton College (Minn.) on Saturday (Oct. 3). The Titans came away with multiple personal records and a 21st-place finish in the championship race.
Williams College (Mass.), the No. 2-ranked program in NCAA Division III in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, won the meet with 79 points. Haley Schoenegge from Vassar College (N.Y.) took home the individual title with a 21:07.1 finish.
Lehna Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) led the Titans with a 69th-place finish. She completed the course in 22:39.9.
Izzy Ciesla (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) was the first Titan to earn a personal record. Her time of 23:05.09 earned her 117th.
Emma Boegh (Berlin/Berlin) and
Jamie Catania (Fond du Lac/Horace Mann) were the next scoring Titans. Boegh placed 145th in 23:19.9 and Catania placed 157th in 23:25.1. The last scoring Titan was
Evelyn Karls (Kimberly/Kimberly), who placed 169th in 23:29.2.
The Titans also had a group of athletes compete in the Maize Division.
Ella Kojis (Dousman/Waukesha South) led the way, running a time of 24:26.9 and finishing 85th. Additional scorers were
Tianna Hayes (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) (107th),
Natalie Orbon (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) (128th),
Kylie Orysen (Prentice/Prentice) (174th), and Madline Osmanski (195th).
No. 7 UW-La Crosse won the Maize Division race with 23 points and the Eagles' Molly Novotny won the individual title in 22:21.1
The Titans return next week for Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational in Appleton on Saturday, Oct. 10.
