OSHKOSH, Wis.- Alex Peterson (Oconto Falls/Gillett) ran to fifth place in the UW-Oshkosh Titan Fall Classic on Friday (Sept. 18), leading UW-Oshkosh men's cross country to fourth place on a rainy and muddy course at the XC Ranch.
Michigan Tech won the team title with 26 points. UW-Stout Polytechnic took second with 49, Lawrence University third with 79, UW-Oshkosh scored 90 points to take fourth and Ripon College fifth with 127. Colman Lenci from Michigan Tech paced the field with a 25:16.3 finish.
Peterson finished the 8,000-meter course in 25:58.4, more than 30 second faster than the next Titan, Bennet Midthun. Midthun took 20th place with a 26:26.8 time.
Zachary Dietsch (West St. Paul, Minn./Two Rivers) and
Aaron Nehls (Fredonia/Ozaukee) claimed 23rd and 24th with respective times of 26:29.6 and 26:38.1.
Alex Arndt (Milwaukee/Saint Thomas More) was Oshkosh's final point scorer with a 26th place, 26:40.9 finish.
Also finishing in the top 40,
Jason Marhal (Port Washington/Port Washington) ran a 26:52.9 for 31st and
Brady Lewis (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) ran a 27:03.0 for 36th.
The Titans head west for their next meet, competing in the Carleton College (Minn.) Running of the Cows at Bill Huyck Championship Course in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 3.
