OSHKOSH, Wis.- Led by a quartet of top-15 individual finishes, UW-Oshkosh women's cross country placed second in its home Titan Fall Classic at the XC Ranch on Friday (Sept. 18).
The meet, which was moved up by an hour due to rainy and muddy conditions, was won by NCAA Division II program Michigan Tech with 26 team points. The Titans scored 58, followed by 78 for Ripon College, 101 for Lawrence University and 110 for UW-Stout Polytechnic. Huskie Sophia Rhein won the individual title in 21:27.3.
Lehna Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) was Oshkosh's fastest runner, completing the course in 22:16.5 for fourth place.
Emma Boegh (Berlin/Berlin) collected 11th place in 23:13.3,
Allison VanDerWegen (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) ran a 23:16.1 for 13th and
Jamie Catania (Fond du Lac/Horace Mann) took 15th in 23:18.5 to round out the Titans' top-15 runners.
Izzy Ciesla (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) made her debut for the Titans on Friday and scored the Titans' final points with a 23:19.7 trip around the course, which was good for 17th place.
Four additional Titans placed in the top 40.
Evelyn Karls (Kimberly/Kimberly) took 18th in 23:21.6,
Ava Dughetti (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) finished 21st in 23:29.9,
Anabel Mitchell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh North) ran a 23:40.8 for 22nd and
Natalie Orbon (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) placed 38th with a time of 24:36.8.
The Titans return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 3 for the Carleton College (Minn.) Running of the Cows at Bill Huyck Championship Course in Northfield, Minn.
