OSHKOSH, Wis.- Northwestern Mutual-Oshkosh and the UW-Oshkosh Department of Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up this September to raise funds and awareness for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a leading national nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. The partnership aligns with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a nationwide campaign to honor children and families impacted by childhood cancer and support critical research initiatives.
Throughout the month of September, Northwestern Mutual representatives and UW-Oshkosh students, faculty and staff will join forces to achieve their goal of raising $10,000, all benefiting Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. These funds will fund one month of cancer research.
"Pediatric cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children in the United States, and we're committed to changing that," said John Dinse, managing director at Northwestern Mutual. "Partnering with UW-Oshkosh allows us to combine our mission-driven work with the energy and passion of students who want to make a real difference. Together, we are fueling research and bringing hope to families."
Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual has been a proud partner of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, contributing more than $75 million to advance pediatric cancer research and family support services. The collaboration with UW-Oshkosh represents a local extension of this national commitment, engaging students and the greater Oshkosh community in the fight against childhood cancer.
"UW-Oshkosh is proud to partner with Northwestern Mutual on such an important cause," said
Darryl Sims, assistant chancellor for intercollegiate athletics at UW-Oshkosh. "This effort is about more than raising funds — it's about educating our community, empowering students to serve, and uniting around the belief that every child deserves a future free from cancer."
Community members can support the cause by attending the first home game of the month on Oct. 3 at 1:00 p.m. against UW-La Crosse, making an online donation or helping raise awareness throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
