University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh Athletics

Abby Gildernick enters her fifth fall at UW-Oshkosh in 2026-27, currently serving as interim assistant chancellor for intercollegiate athletics.

Prior to being named the interim assistant chancellor for intercollegiate athletics, Gildernick was the deputy director of athletics and senior woman administrator. She was promoted to deputy in February 2026 after serving as the assistant director of athletics since January 2022.

Gildernick came to UW-Oshkosh from St. Norbert College, where she was the associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator. She handled the St. Norbert College athletics department's business affairs, including budgeting and forecasting. She also managed the department's travel arrangements while providing event management at home athletics contests.

Gildernick, who is also UW-Oshkosh's compliance director and deputy Title IX director, is responsible for institutional control of NCAA and WIAC compliance, event management, and the department's Name, Image and Likeness efforts. She serves as the primary liaison for UW-Oshkosh's partnerships with BSN, Influxer and Opendorse.

In addition to her other duties, Gildernick oversees all 22 intercollegiate sports as well as UW-Oshkosh's sports medicine, sports information and marketing & social media staff.

She also leads in the organization of WIAC and NCAA championship events hosted by the university. Since arriving at Oshkosh, the Titans have hosted the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional, the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional, 2023 NCAA Softball Regional, 2023 NCAA Women's Volleyball Regional, 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Regional, 2024 NCAA Softball Regional, 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Regional, 2025 NCAA Softball Regional, 2025 NCAA Women's Volleyball Regional and 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball Regional and Sectional. Gildernick has served as the NCAA tournament director for all of these events hosted by UW-Oshkosh.

Gildernick was a four-year letterwinner of the St. Norbert College softball team, an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program, and the Commencement speaker for the St. Norbert College Class of 2014.

The West De Pere High School graduate was the coordinator of athletics at Lawrence University from 2015-17. She also was an assistant coach for the school's women's basketball team.

Gildernick was a graduate assistant for women's basketball and a graduate assistant within the sports administration department at Eastern Kentucky University during the 2017-18 school year, acquiring her master's degree in the process.
