Chris Stratton has made UW-Oshkosh a national contender during his two years as head wrestling coach. Stratton holds a career coaching record of 17-9.

The Titans had their best season in 30 years during 2011-12.Stratton collected WIAC Coach of the Year, while Nazar Kulchytskyywon the 157-pound title at the NCAA Division III Championship.UW-Oshkosh had four men qualify for the national tournament on its way to a 14th-place finish.

The 2011-12 campaign was the second year that Stratton guided the Titans to fourth place in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh won nine of its13 matches overall, including victories over 14th-ranked Elmhurst College and 25th-ranked UW-Stevens Point. At the league championship, Kulchytskyy earned an individual crown and four Titans placed second in their division.

During Stratton’s first year, UW-Oshkosh went 8-5 in dual meets. The Titans opened the season with an upset over nationally ranked UW-Whitewater. Two wrestlers competed at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship, as UW-Oshkosh took 38th place.

Stratton was an assistant coach at UW-Oshkosh from 2008-10. He earned varsity letters wrestling for the Titans during 2004, 2005and 2007. The Appleton native placed sixth (125 pounds) at the WIAC Championship in both 2004 and 2005.

From 2008-10, Stratton was an instructor in UW-Oshkosh'sDepartment of Human Kinetics and Health Education. He also taught exercise sport science courses at UW-La Crosse and physical education classes at Crucifixion Elementary School (Minn.) during the 2007-08 academic year.

Stratton, who holds membership in the National Wrestling CoachesAssociation, received his bachelor's degree from UW-Oshkosh in 2007and his master's degree from UW-La Crosse in 2008.
