Vanessa Thiel begins her second year at UW-Oshkosh's athletics program operations manager in 2026-27.
In her role, Thiel manages event operations for all 22 of UW-Oshkosh's intercollegiate programs as well as ticket sales and the day-to-day operations of the department.
Thiel joined UW-Oshkosh from UW-Green Bay where she was a graduate assistant for events and operations with the Phoenix while she pursued her master’s degree in management. While she worked for Green Bay Athletics, Thiel coordinated logistics and operations for athletic events, providing administrative support, overlooking game day operations, and managing student staff members.
Thiel earned her bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from fellow WIAC member UW-River Falls in 2023. She started her work in collegiate athletics as an event staff employee for the Falcons, setting up arenas for events, working ticket operations, and serving in various supervisory roles.
While studying for her undergraduate degree, Thiel was a captain for UW-River Falls’ club women’s volleyball and intercollegiate women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams while serving on the Falcons’ student-athlete advisory committee.
