Oles Deal Titans First Loss Of Season

The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team, ranked 21st in the nation and coming off an upset of 15th-ranked Augsburg College (Minn.), gave up three unanswered goals to St. Olaf College (Minn.) and lost its first match of the season, 3-1, on Sunday (Sept. 27) in Northfield, Minn.

The match was the 13th between the two teams, and despite the loss, UW-Oshkosh continues to hold a 9-3-1 record in the series.

The Titans would start the scoring at the 35:38 mark, when Evan Maly would score his first goal of the season off of a pass from Jack Borski to make the score 1-0.

The rest of the game; however, would go entirely St. Olaf's way. Just a few minutes after Maly's goal, Olaf's Nathan Swenson would score at the 39:13 mark.

In the second half, David Anderson and Swenson again would score at the 59:21 and 66:42 marks, respectively, to make the final score of the match 3-1.

UW-Oshkosh (7-1-1), who had seven shots, was led offensively by Evan Maly, Paul Beach and Andy Domer all with two shots; Andy Kohel would add the only other shot for the Titans on the night.

Goalkeeper Tim Gindville, who played all 90 minutes would save four, and allow three goals to 17 shots faced.

UW-Oshkosh continues action on Wednesday (Sept. 30) as they take on St. Norbert College from J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
