Box Score UW-Oshkosh posted a 20-7 advantage in shots, but it was Kevin Kron's goal that made the difference as the UW-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated the Titans, 1-0, on Friday (Nov. 4) in Whitewater. It was the regular-season finale for both teams.
Kron, who owned both goals in UW-Whitewater's 2-0 win over UW-Oshkosh on Sept. 28, recorded his second match-winning score of the season against the Titans in the 37th minute (36:31) of play. Kron's team-leading 10th goal of the year followed passes from Jonathon Fisher and Austin Saari.
UW-Oshkosh (10-6-2/5-3 WIAC) attempted 10 shots in each half, with five of them saved by UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Matt Mikesell in the first period and six in the second.
Individually, UW-Oshkosh was led by the five shots of Ryan Hanna (So. • Verona). The Titans also received two shots each from Daniel Fisher (Fr. • Middleton), Jonathan Fox (Fr. • Brooklyn), Chris Kurth (So. • Green Bay), Tim Stadler (Sr. • Wauwatosa) and Tony Starnes (Jr. • Green Bay).
UW-Whitewater (12-7/8-0 WIAC), the WIAC's regular-season champion, launched six of its seven shots in the first half. The Warhawks were paced by the two shots of both Kron and Saari.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper James Pike (Sr. • Wauwatosa) finished the contest with one save, a stop in the first half.
UW-Oshkosh, which placed second in the 2011 WIAC standings, concluded its 27th consecutive winning season.
