Box Score

Kevin Kron scored in each half to give UW-Whitewater a 2-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The win allowed UW-Whitewater (5-4/2-0 WIAC) to take hold of first place in the WIAC standings after sharing the league title with UW-Oshkosh (5-2-2/2-1 WIAC) in 2010. These two squads will meet again Nov. 4 in Whitewater to complete the conference's double round-robin schedule.

Kron put UW-Whitewater ahead 1-0 with a close-range shot in the 32nd minute (31:59) of play. In the game's 77th minute (76:43), Kron struck from 17-yards out to record his fifth goal of the season. His goals were assisted by Ryan Boyd and Jonathon Fisher.

UW-Oshkosh was able to outshoot the visitors, 10-8, but UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Aaron Sesselmann made three saves to earn the shutout. Tony Starnes (Jr. • Green Bay) led the Titans with three shots, while Hans Becker (Fr. • Madison), Robby Giljohann (Sr. • Brookfield) and Chris Kurth (So. • Green Bay) tallied two each.

The Warhawks' eight shots included three by Kron and one each from five different players.

Goalkeeper James Pike (Sr. • Wauwatosa) surrendered two scores while registering a pair of saves for UW-Oshkosh, which entered the match ranked 12th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Titans' next match is against Wheaton College (Ill.) on Saturday (Oct. 1) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
