Titans' Fifth Shutout Of Season Is Win Over Green Knights

Alexis Brewer gave the Titans an early lead over St. Norbert College with her goal 10 minutes into play.

Alexis Brewer and Alyssa Gunderson both scored one goal and assisted on another as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated St. Norbert College, 3-0, on Wednesday (Oct. 24) in De Pere.

Brewer gave UW-Oshkosh an early 1-0 lead when she scored off a pass from Mallory Knight during the 10th minute (9:12) of play. Brewer later assisted on Gunderson's goal that increased UW-Oshkosh's advantage to 3-0 during the 58th minute (57:45) of action.

UW-Oshkosh (7-9-1) held its 1-0 advantage until Hannah Zacher scored following a pass from Gunderson 125 seconds (42:55) before intermission.

Brewer and Zacher both have two goals on the season while Gunderson recorded her first collegiate goal.

UW-Oshkosh, which has won 16 of its 23 meetings (16-5-2 record) with St. Norbert College, finished Wednesday's contest with 21 shots (on goal) and five corner kicks.

The Titans had 12 players attempt shots, including Ashley Baalke who launched four and Brewer who fired three.

St. Norbert College (6-10) tallied 14 shots (6 on goal) and three corner kicks. The Green Knights, who had their four-match winning streak snapped by the Titans, were led by Dana Schwab's six shots.

Ally Magiera of St. Norbert College and Madelyn Runyan of UW-Oshkosh combined for 14 goalkeeping saves, including nine in the first half. Magiera ended the match with eight saves and Runyan six. The shutout was Runyan's first of the season.

UW-Oshkosh closes its regular season at UW-Platteville on Saturday (Oct. 27). A win by the Titans would secure a home match in the first round of next week's six-team WIAC Championship.
