Coach Ellmann gets 100th Career Win with Victory over UW-Eau Claire

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The 13th nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team defeated the reigning national champion No. 12 UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in head coach Jon Ellmann's 100th career win as head coach of the Titans, making him the 3rd coach in program history to reach 100 wins.

The Titans (23-4, 5-1 WIAC) beat the Blugolds (18-6, 4-2 WIAC) in 4 sets, 25-17, 27-25, 19-25, 25-21. It was UW-Oshkosh's twelve consecutive win on the season.

Conference-leading Abby Fregien added to her lead in total digs (509) with 19 digs against the Blugolds.

Carissa Sundholm led the Titans with 18 kills, adding yet another game with double-digit kills.

Kalli Mau and Izzy Coon each had over 20 assists, with 26 and 21, respectively.

The Titans won the first set 25-17 in no small part thanks to a 9-1 run that ended at 17-9 Sundholm had 5 kills in the first set. 

The Blugolds came back fighting in the second set, taking an early 1-3 lead. After a 6-1 run, the Titans didn't relinquish their lead until the Blugolds took a late 22-23 lead. After an attack error by Eau Claire's Jordan Witzel put the Titans up 26-25, Riley Dahlquist finished the set with a kill.

The Titans fell behind early in the only set the lost in the night, allowing the Blugolds to score 5 points before they scored for the first time in the set. Blugold Arianna Barrett got kills in 3 of the 5 first points of the set. After an attack error by Barrett brough the set to 6-10, it never got closer than a 5-point deficit for the Titans, losing 19-25.

UW-Oshkosh ended the night with a 25-21 fourth set win to seal Ellmann's 100th win. The Titans' 7-1 run in the middle of the set with two kills by Riley Dahlquist separated the Titans from the Blugolds in a set that wouldn't get within 3 points again.

The Titans head down to Elmhurst, Ill. on Saturday for the Elmhurst University Invitational to take on No. 22 Albion College, Carthage College and Elmhurst University.
