STEVENS POINT, Wis.—Earning their first win of the 2022-23 campaign, the UW-Oshkosh Titans defeated the UW-Stevens Point Pointers 22-18 in a WIAC dual.

The Titans claimed victories at 133 and 149, taking an 8-6 lead early. Denis Murphy defeated Blaze Thurber by a major decision (10-0) at 133 as Luke Moczynski posted a major decision win over Kyle Smith (8-0) at 149.

Cody Welker extended the Titans lead with a win at 157, defeated Alex Gundrum by a fall (1:46).

In the 174 bout, Will Dixon posted a 4-3 decision over Josh Heuss. Beau Yineman posted a tech fall win at 197 for the Titans, putting the Titans up 22-15.

The Pointers would win the bouts at 125, 141, 165, 184, and 285. The Titans saw Guyon Cyprian Jr. fall in sudden victory in 285. Luc Valdez (125), Logan Stumpf (141), and Brandon Peckham (165) dropped their matches by decisions. Zak Price dropped his battle at 184, falling to Trystan Altensey.

The Titans return to action on Dec. 3 as they travel to the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational. Action starts at 9 a.m. in Milwaukee.
