The WIAC regular season championship is the 15th in program history

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team lived up to the WIAC's season preview on Friday night (Nov. 8). The Titans swept UW-River Falls to claim a share of the title and UW-Platteville defeated UW-Stevens Point in three sets, giving Oshkosh sole claim of the league's regular season title.

The championship is the second consecutive for UW-Oshkosh and the 15th in program history.

The No. 6 nationally ranked Titans (25-4, 6-1 WIAC) won over the Falcons (12-20, 1-6 WIAC) in set scores of 25-16, 26-14 and 25-23. Oshkosh hit .223 (41 kills on 121 attacks) and held River Falls to just .080 (33 kills on 125 attacks), leading in service aces (7-2), assists (38-26), and digs (62-57). UW-River Falls blocked eight attacks to UW-Oshkosh's six.

Izzy Coon (Jr. • Fond du Lac) recorded 16 assists, followed by Kalli Mau (Fifth • Kimberly) with 14.

In double-digit digs were Abby Fregien (Sr. • Waukesha) at 16, Malia Winchel (So. • Oak Creek), and Mau and Coon at 10.

Lauren Grier (So. • Fond du Lac) led the Titans with five blocks while Fregien, Coon, and Winchel all notched two points from the service line.

After two Titan points to start the first set, the Falcons scored three to grab their only lead of the first two sets. Oshkosh responded with four points of its own that included two kills for Kindt and an ace for Coon. River Falls tied the set at 9-9 by going 4-0 but couldn't retake the edge. The Titans extended their lead with runs of three, five, and four points, leading 23-14. The teams traded the next four points before UW-Oshkosh went up 1-0 on Joslyn Wolff's (Sr. • Reeseville) second kill of the set.

At the start of the second set, Oshkosh tallied the first two points and added six more after a River Falls point. The deficit slowly grew as the Titans scored at least three points three times and they held the Falcons to just one spurt of three points. Wolff once again registered the set-winning kill.

Blessing Adebisi started a 4-point River Falls run early in the third set. The Falcons held on to the edge with a 3-0 streak and fended off Oshkosh tying the score at 10-10 by scoring four more points. The Titans took the lead at 16-15 as they tallied four points on a Perlberg kill, a Kindt kill, a Coon ace and a Falcon attack error. The teams traded points a 1-point leads until Oshkosh jumped ahead 24-22. UW-Oshkosh won the league title on an unforced Falcon error.
