Titans Post Ninth Straight 3-0 Victory Of Season Against Pioneers

Callie Panasuk recorded a team-best 18 digs in the win

OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball continued its string of 3-0 victories on Wednesday night (Oct. 22) with a sweep of UW-Platteville at Kolf Sports Center.

The No. 3 nationally ranked Titans (22-2, 5-0 WIAC) earned their fifth conference win with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21 over UW-Platteville (14-9, 3-2 WIAC), which is receiving votes in the most recent coaches' poll.

While the Titans held the Pioneers to a -.086 hitting percentage with 20 kills against 30 errors, they hit just .050 in the contest by tallying 33 kills and 27 errors on 121 total attacks. In the remaining team statistical categories, UW-Oshkosh led with 10 service aces, 13 team blocks, 31 assists, and 62 digs.

Samantha Perlberg (Chippewa Falls/Chippewa Falls) paced Oshkosh with nine kills and added four blocks. Jaclyn Dutkiewicz (Franklin/Franklin) and Izzy Coon (Fond du Lac/St. Mary's Springs Academy) both had double-digit assists with 13 and 11, respectively, while Lauren Grier (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) had a team-high six blocks. Grace Juergens (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Community) recorded three service aces with her eight kills and Callie Panasuk (Oak Creek/Oak Creek) led the Titans with 18 digs. Juergens followed with 14 and Coon had 10.

The Pioneers took an early lead in the first set that was quickly erased with nine consecutive points scored by Oshkosh. Juergens started the run with a kill and Riley Borrowman (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) concluded the streak that included four kills, two blocks, and two service aces with another to make the score 13-6.

Oshkosh held a 19-9 edge late in the set; however, Platteville tallied a 6-0 run to close the deficit to four points before the Titans took six of the following eight serves to go up, 1-0.

Perlberg registered a kill to open the second set, and six more points were added to Oshkosh's score before the Pioneers got on the board with a block. The Titans held Platteville to no more than two points in a row until they added six in a row to increase their lead to 18-5. Platteville jumped back in the game with two runs of four points, making the score 23-16, but a block by Grier and Perlberg and a kill by Perlberg wrapped up the set.

Platteville scored two points at the start of the third set and responded to a kill by Maren Motz (Hartland/Arrowhead Union) with two more, however four consecutive points for the Titans flipped the lead. The Pioneers briefly led again by scoring three points in a row and adding two more for a 10-7 edge. A Pioneer attack error gave Oshkosh the serve. The Titans went 7-1 and never relinquished the lead.

Small spurts kept the score in UW-Oshkosh's favor, outlasting a 4-0 run and winning on a service error.

With the win, the Titans remain knotted atop the WIAC standings with No. 4 UW-Eau Claire (24-2, 5-0 WIAC), which defeated UW-Stevens Point, 3-0, at home on Wednesday.

Wednesday night's match was also UW-Oshkosh's annual Play for a Cause Night. This year, the Titans are supporting Deke Kindt, father of former Titan Riley Kindt (Brookfield/Brookfield East), who is currently fighting pancreatic cancer. Digs for Deke is a pledge campaign that gives supporters the opportunity to pledge a specific amount per dig. At the end of the year the team will reach out to share its final dig count, total amount pledged, and will send a thank you package in the mail that will give behind the scenes information about the 2025 season.

The Titans hit the road on Saturday for a noon match in Whitewater against No. 10 Colby College (Maine) (17-1, 7-1 NESCAC). The meeting will be the first between the two top 10 programs.
