Dietzen And Vallafskey Collect WIAC Athlete Of The Week Honors

Kyle Dietzen and Ben Vallafskey had career days in the Titans' win over UW-River Falls on Saturday

MADISON, Wis.- Kyle Dietzen (Omro/Omro) and Ben Vallafskey (Appleton/Appleton West) were named the WIAC Kwik Trip Football Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday (Oct. 7). They helped UW-Oshkosh upset No. 11/12 UW-River Falls, 21-17, in its conference opener at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 4).

Dietzen played an integral role in holding UW-River Falls, which came to Oshkosh averaging 56 points per game, to a season low 17 points on Saturday. He recorded a career-high 18 tackles, including seven solo and a tackle for loss, in the Titans' 21-17 victory. His tackle-for-loss came in the fourth quarter, stopping the Falcons on fourth-and-1 on the Oshkosh 21-yard line.

Vallafskey posted his second-straight 100-yard rushing game on Saturday. He averaged 6.7 yards on 17 carries for 114 yards and scored twice. He recorded his first double-digit rush early in the second quarter for 23 yards and scored his first touchdown of the day two plays later on a 14-yard rush. Later in the period, after rushing to UW-Oshkosh's 49-yard line, he took the ball to the end zone in the following play for a 51-yard score.

The Titans have now collected two of the three weekly awards for the same period at least once in each of the last three seasons.
