Titans Hand Juniata First 3-0 Loss Since 2019

Riley Borrowman led Oshkosh with six blocks and recorded five kills, an assist, an ace, and a dig against Juniata

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team swept three-time defending NCAA Division III champion Juniata College (Pa.) to wrap up its matches at Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center on Saturday (Nov. 1).

The Titans (25-3, 6-0 WIAC) won by set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-19 to give the Eagles (23-4, 9-0 Landmark) their first loss by sweep since the Second Round of the 2019 Division III Championship.

Oshkosh hit .311 across the three sets, recording 44 kills against 11 errors on 106 total attacks. Juniata registered 39 kills and 16 errors on 99 attacks for a .232 hitting percentage. The Titans also led 9-8 in service aces, 8-4 in team blocks, and 40-38 in assists while the Eagles held a 41-28 edge in digs.

Grace Juergens (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Community) was the Titans' top attacker, recording a .313 hitting percentage with 12 kills and just two errors on 32 attacks. She added a service ace and four digs in the match. Samantha Perlberg (Chippewa Falls/Chippewa Falls) also reached double-digit kills with 10 while registering an assist, a service ace, three blocks, and six digs.

Leading Oshkosh's setters were Jaclyn Dutkiewicz (Franklin/Franklin) with 17 and Izzy Coon (Fond du Lac/St. Mary's Springs Academy) with 16. Callie Panasuk (Oak Creek/Oak Creek) had a team best eight digs and both Panasuk and Dutkiewicz served a pair of aces.

Riley Borrowman (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) blocked a total of six attacks with a solo block to go with five kills, an assist, a service ace, and a dig.

The Eagles scored the first three points of the match and led until Juergens started a 4-0 run for the Titans that included a service ace by Panasuk and kills by Borrowman and Clare McEniry (North Aurora, Ill./Rosary). Breaking a 12-12 tie, Lauren Grier (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) recorded a kill before Oshkosh extended its edge to 16-12 with three more points. The Eagles briefly reclaimed the lead at 17-16, however the Titans responded with a 6-1 run featuring four kills, a service ace, and a block. Not to be counted out, Juniata again tied the score at 24-24 before Perlberg and Borrowman recorded a block, and Borrowman had a service ace to wrap up the set.

After Juniata broke a 4-4 tie with a trio of offensive points early in set two, the Eagles retained the lead until another Riley Borrowman (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) block started a 4-0 spurt with an ace from Juergens and back-to-back kills by Maren Motz (Hartland/Arrowhead Union). The Titans extended their lead with another string of four consecutive points and used the deficit to score one and two points at a time before Grier put Oshkosh up two sets to one on a kill.

UW-Oshkosh erased another early Juniata lead by tallying six straight points to make the score 12-8. The Eagles scored two points in a row just twice more in the set while Oshkosh had two pairs of points and a 3-0 streak to seal the victory.

Juergens and Grier were named to the all-tournament team after the conclusion of the weekend's matches.

The Titans will host UW-Eau Claire (25-2, 6-0 WIAC) at Kolf Sports Center on Friday (Nov. 7) for the right to claim the 2025 WIAC regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. Oshkosh has won the league's last two regular season championships while the Blugolds last won the title in 2021.

The programs are 5-5 against each other in the last 10 matchups and UW-Oshkosh has won the last four meetings.
