Three Titans Earn AVCA All-America Citations

LEXINGTON, Ky.- UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball's Samantha Perlberg (Chippewa Falls/Chippewa Falls), Lauren Grier (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac), and Grace Juergens (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Community) were all named All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday (Nov. 26).
 
A 2023 All-America honorable mention, Perlberg was named to the first team while first time honorees Lauren Grier (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) and Grace Juergens (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Community) collected second team and honorable mention honors, respectively.
 
Perlberg, the WIAC Offensive and AVCA Region 8 Player of the Year, ranked ninth in Division III with 524 points in the regular season on 467 kills, which ranked 11th, she hit at a 4.41 per-set clip, the 12th-highest in the division. Perlberg was named the national player of the week once (Sept. 9) and the conference offensive player of the week four times while collecting 16 double-doubles, including a career match at UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, October 26. She matched the program single game record of 32 kills and hit .375, adding 20 digs, two assists, and four blocks. After averaging 3.89 kills with a .231 hitting percentage, 4.33 digs, and 4.44 points with a trio of double-doubles in Oshkosh's first three rounds of the national tournament, Perlberg was named the regional's most outstanding player.
 
Grier, also a member of the regional all-tournament team, ranked 11th in the country with 1.26 blocks per set in the regular she had six double-digit kill performances in the regular season and notched a season-best 12 kills at Whitewater. At the net, she had nine total blocks twice, recording four solo and five assists against St. Catherine University (Minn.) on Saturday, September 20 and one solo and eight against Colby College (Maine) on Tuesday, October 25. She recorded 2.22 kills (.292 hitting percentage), 1.56 blocks, and 3.11 points per set in the regional tournament.
 
Juergens recorded 342 kills in the regular season and hit .216 with a 3.23 kills per set average while averaging 2.96 digs and 3.78 points per set. The owner of eight double-doubles before the NCAA Championship, Juergens paced the Titans with 45 service aces and registered a .946 reception percentage. She recorded double-digit kills in 16 matches, including a high of 24 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) in Oshkosh on Saturday, September 6. She hit .315 in the match and recorded 16 digs, an assist, and a service ace. In the regional tournament, Juergens averaged 3.44 kills, 2.89 digs, and 3.89 points.
 
The Titans (31-3) won the WIAC regular season title for the third consecutive season by going 7-0 in league play and the 16th time in program history before reverse sweeping UW-Eau Claire in the conference tournament championship match to secure their first automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship since 2008. After learning they would be hosting a regional tournament at Kolf Sports Center for the second time in three seasons, the Titans swept through their opponents in nine sets, winning their third straight regional trophy.
 
UW-Oshkosh will travel to Bloomington, Illinois for the final three rounds of the Division III Championship on Monday (Dec. 1) and face No. 19 Calvin University (Mich.) in the national quarterfinal round on Wednesday, December 1 at 2 p.m. in Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center.
