WHITEWATER, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh men's wrestling began its dual schedule on Thursday (Nov. 6) with a WIAC dual at No. 7 nationally ranked UW-Whitewater. The Titans earned wins at 149- and 197-pounds while the Warhawks took the team win by a 38-9 score.
Jacob Ward (Green Bay/Bay Port) secured the Titans' first win of the night with a 4:12 fall of Lucio Morgan at 149-pounds. Up 14-3 through the middle of the second period, he pinned Morgan to the mat for his second win by fall this season.
In the 197-pound bout,
Richie Amakiri (Plano, Ill./Plano) defeated Tyler Haydon by a 9-5 decision. He built a 4-1 lead through the first period and used the deficit to earn his first collegiate victory.
The Warhawks won the remaining matches with two pins, four technical falls, and two decisions.
Roman Martell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) held a 4-2 edge after the first period at 285-pounds before Isaak Smith went on an 8-1 run to take the match.
Oshkosh and Whitewater also competed in eight extra matches at the end of the dual.
The Titans will head to Plymouth on Saturday (Nov. 8) for the annual Lakeland University Muskie Scramble. The first matches of the multi-team meet are set for 10 a.m.
