Titans Secure Three Titles, Multiple Top Finishes At Muskie Scramble

PLYMOUTH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's wrestling team participated in the Lakeland University Muskie Scramble on Saturday (Nov. 8). Although the event was non-scoring, the Titans secured numerous top-eight finishes across the A and B divisions.

In the A divisions, the Titans claimed three top-three placements. Roman Martell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) and Garth Martell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) shared the top position in the 285-pound bracket after the meet was ended due to the length of the day. Roman reached the championship match with a 1:55 pin of Carthage College's Chris Gielow, a 4-1 decision against Kei`Aviyahn Evans from Concordia University Wisconsin, a sudden victory win over Lakeland University's Diego Morales, and a forfeit win. Garth posted two pins, a 16-7 major decision against UW-Platteville's Jackson Kirsch, and edged out Milwaukee School of Engineering's Jake Schmitt, 2-1.

At 165 pounds, Ryan Bergman (Watertown/Watertown) took second place after a stellar run that included back-to-back technical falls (17-2 and 15-0) and a hard-fought 10-9 win by decision over Diego Snell-Martinez from MSOE before dropping the championship bout.

One hundred forty-nine-pounder Jacob Ward (Green Bay/Bay Port) reached the third-place match on three wins, including a 10-2 major decision, a 16-1 technical fall, and a fall at 6:35.
