LA CROSSE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh men's wrestling broke its 23-match losing streak on Saturday (Dec. 6) with a 28-22 victory over Augustana College (Ill.) during the UW-La Crosse Duals at the Eagles' Mitchell Hall Gymnasium.

Oshkosh defeated Augustana (1-6, 0-2 CCIW), 28-22, in its second of three duals in La Crosse and bumped its record against the Vikings since the 1985-86 season to 2-3, including a 2-0 mark in the last two matchups.

Ryan Hanson (McHenry, Ill./McHenry Community) won the Titans' first match of the contest at 133 pounds by pinning Tyson Bruce in 2:49.

Dominick Girardin (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) posted a 149-pound 13-7 win over Trevion Gilford, followed by another win by decision (10-6) for Caidan Ronning (Plano, Ill./Plano) at 157 pounds and a 3:49 pin for Ryan Bergman (Watertown/Watertown) at 165 pounds.

Headed into the 285-bout, the Titans led, 24-22, and needed a win of any kind to take the match. Garth Martell (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) defeated Teke Nieto by an 11-2 major decision to cap off Oshkosh's victory.

The Titans opened the round-robin against Central College (Iowa) (4-1, 2-0 A-R-C), the 24th-ranked program in NCAA Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Bergman posted a 9-0 win by major decision at 165 pounds against Shane Hanford, but the Dutch claimed the remaining nine matches and secured the 48-4 victory. Central picked up four pin wins, four technical fall wins, and a major decision win.

Oshkosh wrestled No. 5 UW-La Crosse (7-0, 2-0 WIAC) in the final round of duals. The Eagles shutout the Titans with four pins, four technical falls, and two major decisions.
