STEVENS POINT, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's basketball allowed UW-Stevens Point to tie the score just once on Shirley Enger Court at Berg Gym on Wednesday (Feb. 12), defeating the Pointers, 60-40, sweeping the season series, and extending the current winning streak over its WIAC foe to 13 games.

The Titans, ranked No. 5 by
d3hoops.com and No. 7 by the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association, shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52) from the field including 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the line, leading the Pointers in all three shooting categories. Oshkosh held Stevens Point to zero 3-pointers on 12 attempts on the night, holding additional edges in points in the paint (38-24), points off turnovers (13-8), and bench points (16-10).

Kayce Vaile (Fifth • Greendale) dished out a career high seven assists while blocking four shots, stealing a pair of possessions, and pulling down five rebounds (one offensive). She scored a team high 19 points by going 8-of-17 from the field with one three and 2-of-3 from the line.

Avery Poole (Jr. • Cottage Grove) was the Titans' second-highest scorer with 11 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point boundary. Titan reserve

The Titans jumped out to an early 5-0 lead as
Sarah Hardwick (Jr. • Green Bay) and Poole made a layup and converted a 3-point attempt respectively. Oshkosh maintained its 5-point edge through a pair of Pointer baskets before adding five straight points on two layups and a free throw from Vaile, putting the score at 14-4 with 3:16 left in the first quarter. Both teams scored four points in the final three minutes of the opening period and Oshkosh entered the second with an 18-8 lead.

After Seckar put up a good layup early in quarter two, UW-Stevens Point tallied off 12 consecutive points to tie the score at 20-20 with the clock at 5:35. UW-Oshkosh then held the Pointers to just two more points before halftime while scoring 10 of its own. Vaile led the run with a three and a layup. Poole hit a three to begin the spurt and Seckar converted two free throws with 25 seconds left before halftime before blocking a last-second layup that

Huml and Vaile each scored four points to open the third quarter and after Vaile later added a free throw, Oshkosh led 39-22 with 4:45 remaining. The teams traded baskets over the following two minutes until Stevens Point went 5-0 to cut the lead down to 14 points (46-32) with 22 seconds left before the final period. Poole scored her 11th point of the night on a layup with four seconds to go.

Sammi Beyer (So. • Appleton), Hardwick, and Huml each scored a pair of points before the Pointers got on the board with a layup at 6:07 in the fourth quarter. Stevens Point added three more points to make the score 54-37 with 4:28 left on the clock, but never got closer to Oshkosh as the Titans went 6-3 down the stretch.

The Titans travel to La Crosse on Saturday (Feb. 15) to face the Eagles (13-9, 5-6 WIAC) at 3 p.m. before returning home for the third annual Welcome Back Bash on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. as they host UW-Eau Claire (8-14, 3-8 WIAC).
