DE PERE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh softball team shut out St. Norbert College in both games on Wednesday (April 9).
The Titans won the first game 6-0 with
Sydney Nemetz (Sr. • Marinette) on the mound, and
Grace Nardi (Fr. • Marquette, Mich.) was on the mound for the Titans 9-0 win in game two.
In the first game, the Titans scored their six runs on ten hits with no errors, while St. Norbert had no runs on three hits with two errors. In the second game, the Titans scored their nine runs on eight hits. St. Norbert had no runs on four hits with three errors.
Olivia Ullman (Fr. • Denmark) got the Titans on the board in the first game, driving in
Abby Garceau (Sr. • Mishicot) for the early lead. The Titans added three more runs in the third inning, starting with
Morgan Rau's (Fifth • Downers Grove, Ill.) RBI double to drive in
Sydney Rau (Fifth • Downers Grove, Ill.).
Morgan Rau then scored on an RBI groundout from
Cali Divito (Sr. • Inverness, Ill.).
Amanda Martineck's (So. • Frankfort, Ill.) sacrifice fly drove in Ullman to put the Titans up 4-0.
Sarah Hammerton (So. • Appleton) extended the Titans' lead with a two-run home run in the fifth, putting the Titans up 6-0.
Nemetz pitched the full game, only allowing three hits over the full seven innings. She moved to 9-1 on the season. Sydney and
Morgan Rau, along with
Sophie Wery (Sr. • Seymour), all recorded multi-hit games. Hammerton led the Titans in RBIs with two on her home run.
In the second game,
Morgan Rau's two-RBI double gave the Titans the early lead in the first inning, driving in Garceau and
Sydney Rau.
In the second inning,
Amanda Martineck hit the second home run of the day for the Titans, scoring
Haylie Wittman (Jr. • Kaukauna).
Morgan Rau picked up her third RBI of the game later in the inning, scoring Divito, which extended the Titans lead to 5-0.
The Titans added on four more runs in the fifth, starting with a fielder's choice by
Reese Koski (Sr. • Appleton), which scored
Morgan Miller (Jr. • Schaumberg, Ill.) and
Mary Kate Quaid (Fr. • Aurora, Ill.). Hammerton then proceeded to score on a wild pitch.
Maddie Zaves (So. • Menasha) drove in the final run for the Titans, scoring Koski on a sacrifice fly.
Nardi moved to 6-0 on the season, pitching four innings and striking out six.
Brianna Bougie (So. • Oshkosh) closed out the final inning for the Titans. At the plate,
Morgan Rau went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Hammerton recorded two hits in three at bats, and Martineck had two RBIs on her home run.
The Titans (21-2) return Saturday (April 12) as they travel to UW-La Crosse (15-10) for their first conference matchups of the season.
