CUBA CITY, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's basketball head coach
Brad Fischer was named the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2024-25 College Division III Women Public Coach of the Year on Thursday (May 1).
Â

Fischer, who completed his 12th season at the helm of the program and owns a program-best record of 287-76, has earned the honor twice before. The WBCA named him their college Division III coach of the year after his first year in 2012-13 and after the 2020-21 campaign.
Â
In 2024-25, Fischer guided the Titans to a 27-5 overall record, the WIAC regular season championship with a league mark of 11-3, and the semifinal round of the NCAA Championship. The 20-win season is the 12th under Fischer and every full-length season since 2012-13 has seen UW-Oshkosh collect at least 20 wins. He is one of just two head coaches in conference history to accomplish the feat, joining former UW-Platteville head coach Bo Ryan, who led the Pioneers to at least 20 wins every season from 1988-99.
Â
The regular season conference title was the fifth under Fischer and the second consecutive. UW-Oshkosh qualified for the NCAA Championship as an at-large bid and was selected to host a regional for the second straight year. The Titans defeated Calvin University (Mich.) and Bethel University (Minn.) in the first weekend to move on to the sectional rounds. In Bloomington, Illinois, the Titans beat host Illinois Wesleyan and Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio), reaching the Final Four for the third time in program history and for the first time since 1996.
Â

Fischer was named the WIAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career earlier this year and was tabbed for D3hoops.com Coach of the Region for the third time. He mentored
Kayce Vaile (Greendale/Greendale) and
Sammi Beyer (Appleton/Appleton East) to All-WIAC First Team mentions and
Paige Seckar (Oshkosh/Oshkosh West) to the WIAC Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year award. Vaile earned further honors in D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team and All-America Fourth Team and Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention. Seckar was tabbed as D3hoops.com Region Co-Rookie of the Year.
Â
The Titans committed just 10.6 turnovers per game, the fewest in NCAA Division III and ranked 13th with 49.7 points allowed per game. They held additional WIAC bests in scoring margin (+14.4), field goal percentage defense (35.7), three-point percentage (33.6), three-point percentage defense (26.3), blocks per game (4.0), bench points per game (24.8), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.06), fouls committed per game (13.0), and winning percentage (84.4).
