New Public Art Installation To Celebrate UW-Oshkosh Athletics At Kolf Sports Center

Oshkosh, Wis.- A bold new public art installation will soon transform the landscape at UW-Oshkosh's Kolf Sports Center. Through a partnership between Discover Oshkosh and UW-Oshkosh, the berms surrounding the facility will be wrapped in dynamic images honoring the legacy and spirit of Titan Athletics.

"UW-Oshkosh Athletics has such a powerful history of achievement", said Assistant Chancellor, Athletics Darryl Sims. "The Titans are a great source of community pride. This installation will bring that pride to life in a way that both campus and the community can share and celebrate."

The installation will feature a series of vibrant wraps that not only highlight the strength and
diversity of Titan Athletics but also signal Discover Oshkosh's commitment to public art as a driver of community identity.

New UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Manohar Singh is excited for the transformation. "This project is a powerful reflection of what makes UW-Oshkosh and our community so special", he said. "We are deeply grateful for this partnership, which beautifully blends Titan pride, community spirit, and alumni success into a legacy that will inspire generations of students and visitors."

The project will feature the work of Oshkosh-based husband-wife team Josh and Carla
Marquardt, owners of Art City Signs. Josh, a UW-Oshkosh alumnus who majored in printmaking, has built a successful career blending fine art with large-scale public installations. His company has executed major projects on national stages, including installations for the Super Bowl and the recent NFL Draft held at Lambeau Field.

"This layered story telling through art is exactly what we hope to accomplish with our new
placemaking initiatives", said Amy Albright, Executive Director of Discover Oshkosh. "Not only will this add beauty and energy to a significant community space, but it will help future Titans, whether athletes or artists, see themselves at UWO."

This installation is part of a new effort by Discover Oshkosh to take the lead on placemaking projects that can improve both the quality of life and visitor experience in the community. Working with community partners, they are identifying and executing place-based investments designed to yield more dynamic and attractive public spaces across Oshkosh.
Discover Oshkosh and UW-Oshkosh collaborated to bring the project to fruition, reflecting a shared mission to enhance the cultural and visual landscape of the city and to see the university celebrated as a community resource.

"Thanks to the vision and leadership of Discover Oshkosh, and the creativity and generosity of our own alumnus and entrepreneur Josh Marquardt", said Chancellor Singh. "Kolf Sports Center will stand as both an athletic landmark and a work of art."

The installation is scheduled to be completed in time for UW-Oshkosh's 100th Homecoming on October 19.
