Eight Titans Named CSC Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.- UW-Oshkosh football had eight honorees on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Football Team on Tuesday (Jan. 6).
 
Chad Gerig (Stillman Valley, Ill./Stillman Valley), AJ Korth (Menasha/Menasha), Jon Mathieu (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls), Josiah Nathaniel (Milwaukee/Catholic Memorial), Clayton Schwalbe (Waukesha/Waukesha North), Casey Webber (Eagle/Palmyra-Eagle), Ben Wellhoefer (Omro/Omro), and Kellen Wright (West Salem/West Salem) each earned the honor. Schwalbe became the first four-time honoree in program history, Mathieu and Nathaniel were named to their second academic all-district teams, and Gerig and Webber claimed their second career honor. Schwalbe was selected to move on to academic All-America voting.
 
A defensive back, Gerig is currently a graduate student pursuing his master's degree in business administration. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a bachelor's in finance and a 3.68 cumulative grade-point average and currently owns a 4.00 GPA as a graduate student. He played nine games with eight starts and totaled 36 tackles with 19 solo while being one of three Titans that intercepted a pair of passes.
 
Korth is an electrical engineering technology major with a 3.85 cumulative GPA. The dual threat quarterback played in all 10 games this fall and completed 31-of-51 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns to go with 78 rushing attempts for 400 yards and a score. The All-WIAC Honorable Mention also caught eight passes for 98 yards.
 
Mathieu was a 10-game starter at wide receiver for Oshkosh as a strength and conditioning major with a 3.99 cumulative GPA. He finished his senior season with 22 receptions for 260 yards and two touchdowns while adding two rushes for 11 yards, two kick returns for 54 yards, and two punt returns for eight yards. He was named to the All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team.
 
Nathaniel owns a 3.86 cumulative GPA as a rehabilitation science major. The offensive lineman started all 10 games, helping the Titans average 113 rushing yards and 240.4 passing yards per contest.
 
Schwalbe is a physical education major with a 4.00 cumulative GPA who started at tight end in all 10 of UW-Oshkosh's games. A September 9 D3Football.com Team of the Week selection, he totaled 213 yards and three touchdowns on 18 receptions. Over the course of his season, Schwalbe also collected All-WIAC First Team, D3Football.com All-Region Second Team, American Football Coaches Association All-America Second Team, and was named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy.
 
Also a graduate student with a major in business administration, Webber has a 4.00 cumulative GPA after earning his bachelor's degree in finance with a 3.99 GPA. The long snapper played in all 10 of the Titans' games this season.
 
Wellhoefer, a defensive back, started 10 games and ranked second on the team with 74 total tackles and 35 solo tackles while joining Gerig with two interceptions and recovering a fumble against UW-Eau Claire on October 18. The physical education major owns a 3.54 cumulative GPA.
 
Wright, a finance major, owns a 3.72 cumulative GPA. The linebacker totaled 43 tackles, including 18 solo, 4.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks for a loss of 15 yards, an interception, and two quarterback hurries.
 
The Titans were joined by eight student-athletes from UW-Eau Claire, eight from UW-La Crosse, eight from UW-Platteville, seven from UW-River Falls, six from UW-Stevens Point, eight from UW-Stout, and eight from UW-Whitewater.
 
UW-Oshkosh (5-5, 3-4 WIAC) opened the 2025 season with a 31-14 win over nationally ranked Linfield University (Ore.). After falling to eventual national finalist North Central College (Ill.) on the road, the Titans defeated NCAA Division II program Roosevelt University (Ill.), 38-21, in their home opener at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
 
Oshkosh kicked off its conference slate by handing 2025 Division III Champion UW-River Falls its only loss of the season, 21-17. Across the remainder of the season, the Titans beat UW-Eau Claire (28-21) and UW-Stevens Point (41-15).
 
Eight Titans earned All-WIAC accolades, three were named all-region by D3Football.com, and Clayton Schwalbe (Waukesha/Waukesha North) was selected as a second team All-American by the AFCA.
 
The 2025 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Tuesday, January 27.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
