OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball will host the fourth annual Community Night on Wednesday (Oct. 7) when the Titans host WIAC rival UW-La Crosse at Kolf Sports Center at 7 p.m. Attendance to the event is free for all fans.
"In a world where more and more of our experiences are directed to digital relationships and exchanges, our goal is simple - Help build a stronger, more vibrant, and supportive community!" head coach
Jon Ellmann said.
"Community Night is also about celebrating and cheering for our Titans! The UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball players lead on the court and in the classroom, and through this initiative are getting real reps leading within our community. Come be a part of history as we seek to move UWO Volleyball even further up the NCAA attendance record book!"
The Titans will attempt to break the NCAA Division III women's volleyball regular season attendance record of 3,051 that was set on Oct. 18, 2013, when Hope College (Mich.) hosted Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Calvin College (Mich.).
Doors open at Kolf Sports Center at 5 p.m. A kids carnival with interactive games, activities and prizes for all ages will be located at the south end of the fieldhouse.
A booth will also be set up by the National Marrow Donor Program (formerly Be The Match). UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball and the NMBP are teaming up to launch the Every Serve Saves campaign to help patients with blood cancers and disorders find lifesaving donor matches. The two groups have a goal of at least 100 new donors and fans can help support the cause simply by signing up
online or stopping at the table and signing up to join the registry or volunteer.
Starting at 6 p.m., former University of Wisconsin All-American outside hitter and current League One Volleyball (LOVB) Madison player Mimi Colyer will be available for signatures and photo opportunities.
UW-Oshkosh students can win a pizza party from the volleyball program for having the highest percentage of residents in attendance from their dorm at the match. Totals will be tallied after the match and emailed out to the winning dorm.
