Wreath Headlines Titans’ All-WIAC Selections With Newcomer Of The Year Honors

MADISON, Wis.- For the fourth time in program history and the third in the last four years, a UW-Oshkosh women's soccer player was named the WIAC Newcomer of the Year on Thursday (Nov. 5) when the WIAC announced its annual all-conference honorees.

Addie Wreath (Appleton/Appleton East), newcomer of the year and first team selection, was joined by Addyson Edwards (Appleton/Appleton West) and Jaden Leroy on the first team while Ariana Gonzalez (Appleton/Appleton North) was tabbed for the honorable mention team and Greta Steines (Eau Claire/Eau Claire Memorial) was Oshkosh's all-sportsmanship recipient.

Wreath recorded a team-high seven assists so far this season, which also ranks third in the league. Across 16 matches with 13 starts, the forward ranks third in the WIAC with 3.06 shots per match and sixth with 1.63 shots on goal per match. She totaled 15 points by adding four goals to her seven assists, scoring her first collegiate goal and added two assists in a 6-0 blowout road win over Benedictine University (Ill.) on Sept. 12. Wreath followed up that performance with another one goal, two assists contest at Concordia University Wisconsin on Oct. 13 and one-goal matches against UW-Platteville on Oct. 17 and UW-Whitewater on Nov. 3. She was named the WIAC Kwik Trip Offensive Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 12-18.

Edwards, a defender, leads Oshkosh with 1671 minutes on the pitch and has started all 19 matches. While she has anchored a defense that has posted seven shutouts, she also scored a goal against Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) at home on Sept. 4. Edwards and the Titan defense have held opponents to 1.11 goal per match, including just 10.7 shots per match.

LeRoy led Oshkosh's offensive attack as a forward, scoring 18 points on eight goals and two assists, which ranks fourth in the WIAC. She put 19 of her 34 shots on goal for a .559 percentage and tallied the game-winning goal at Benedictine and at UW-Stout on Oct. 10. LeRoy recorded the Titans' first haul (four goals in a game) since Sept. 1, 2022, at Benedictine. She was the Sept. 7-13 WIAC Kwik Trip Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Gonzalez has started all 19 matches at midfielder and has played a significant role in Oshkosh's transition from the backfield to the attack in 1,159 minutes played. She has also directly contributed to the Titans' scoring efforts with a goal at Concordia Wisconsin and an assist at UW-River Falls on Oct. 31.

The Titans, who defeated UW-Whitewater by a 2-1 score in the quarterfinal round of the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) on Tuesday (Nov. 3), continue their postseason run at top-seeded UW-La Crosse on Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
