Jennings Announces 2026 Football Coaching Staff

OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh head football coach Peter Jennings has announced his 2026 staff. Jennings welcomes newcomers Tim Shields and Levy Hamer while promoting four coaches already on staff.

Shields, who served as the first general manager in program history in 2025, will serve as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2026.

Shields comes to Oshkosh with over a decade of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at UW-Whitewater in 2022. He was on staff with the Warhawks for seven seasons in all, starting as the tight ends and offensive tackles coach in 2017, adding director of football operations and equipment to his responsibilities in 2019.

Before his time in Whitewater, Shields was the defensive line coach at Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) from 2014-16, running backs coach at Illinois College in 2013 and running backs coach and video coordinator at Waldorf College (Iowa) in 2012.

A 2008 graduate of Illinois College with a bachelor's degree in history and political science, Shields was a two-time all-conference selection and three-year starter for the Big Blue before receiving his law degree from Western Michigan University in 2012 and passing the Missouri Bar Exam in 2013.

While studying for his law degree, Shields served as offensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Lansing Eastern High School.

Hamer comes to Oshkosh by way of Concordia University, St. Paul (Minn.), where he was the wide receivers coach during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Hamer graduated from UW-Stout, where he played in all 40 games between 2018-22 (the 2020 season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic). A record breaker in his time with the Blue Devils, Hamer collected two All-WIAC First Team honors (2021, 2022) and two All-WIAC Second Team nods (2018, 2019) while being named to the D3football.com All-Region Second Team twice (2021, 2022).

By the time he graduated, Hamer owned Stout's career records in total receiving yards (3,631) and receiving touchdowns (34) while ranking second in receptions (232) and total touchdowns (34). He also owns the single season record in receiving touchdowns (12) and is fifth with 74 points.

Four existing coaches have also seen their responsibilities elevated ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Joe Wagner, entering his ninth season with the Titans, has been elevated to special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach.

Former record-breaking wide receiver for the Titans and second-year coach Trae Tetzlaff has moved to defensive backs coach.

Mason Robinson will serve as the wide receivers coach and pass game and recruiting coordinator in his fifth season in Oshkosh.

Max Schoening, who was a standout offensive lineman for UW-Oshkosh and begins his second year on the coaching staff this fall, will take over as the tight ends coach while retaining his fullbacks and film coordinator responsibilities.
