CHICAGO, Ill.- A pair of home runs from
Logan Schill (Pewaukee/Pewaukee) and
Jack McNamara (La Grange, Ill./Lyons) weren't enough on Tuesday afternoon (March 24) as UW-Oshkosh baseball fell, 7-3, to North Park University (Ill.) in the Titans' penultimate nonconference contest of the regular season at the Vikings' Holmgren Athletic Complex.
Â
On the day, Schill and McNamara both went 2-for-4 at the plate, each with a run scored. Schill tallied one RBI and stole a base to extend his league-leading mark to 10. McNamara added two RBI while hitting a double.
Owen Housinger (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson),
Gavin Persson (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North),
Trevor Morris (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and
Cullen Kirchberg (DeForest/DeForest) all recorded hits of their own to account for Oshkosh's (4-7) eight hits in the game.
Â
Three North Park (13-6) hitters had two hits on Tuesday and John Greenwo registered a team high two RBI.
Â
Viking starting pitcher Jacob Titswo earned his second win of the season by striking out four of the 19 batters he faced while allowing one run on three hits and hit batter. He did not issue a walk.
Â
In a busy day on the mound for the Titans,

Â
North Park scored a run in the first inning on an error and recorded two more in the second on a 2-RBI single down the left field line.
Â
The Titans meanwhile went down in order across both of the first two frames and left Persson on first base in the third inning after he was hit by a pitch as the leadoff batter.
Â
Michael Hughes (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) came in for the third inning and allowed four runs before inducing a sacrifice flyout for the first out of the frame. The Vikings tallied their sixth run on an RBI single and Hughes was pulled in favor of
Colton Kachinsky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) after putting runners on first and third by allowing another single. Kachinsky struck out the first Viking he faced, then sent in another run on a walk and a bases loaded hit by pitch before getting the following batter to fly out, stranding Vikings on all three bases.
Â
Following a
Braydon Skenandore (De Pere/West De Pere) strikeout at the top of the fourth inning, Schill broke Oshkosh's five-way tie atop the home run leaderboard with his second shot of the season over the fence in right center. McNamara sent the first pitch he saw through the right side of the infield in the following at-bat before
Danny Connelly (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) went down swinging and
Aaron Davis (Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South) lined out to the third baseman.
Â
Kachinsky got out of a bases loaded, one-out situation in the bottom of the fourth with a first pitch foul out and a groundout by forcing a foul out and a groundout.
Â
Ethan Wick (Appleton/Appleton North) was on the mound for the Titans in the fifth inning and faced three batters for Oshkosh's most effective frame of the game. The first reached on an error, the second struck out swinging and the third grounded out into a double play.
Â
In the top of the sixth, Schill singled up the middle and stole second base before advancing to third on McNamara's unassisted groundout to first base. He was left there as North Park got out of the inning by inducing a Connelly groundout.
Â
Wick got out of the bottom of the sixth and stranded two runners before
Kael Johns (Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) came in to throw the seventh. Johns got the Vikings to ground out on the third pitch of both of the first two at-bats and induced a third after scattering a first-pitch single by his third batter.
Â
Owen Housinger (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) pinch hit for Skenandore to lead off Oshkosh's half of the eighth inning and singled through the right side to put a runner on the base path early in the inning. McNamara hit his first home run of the season two batters later to make the score 7-3 and chase Viking reliever Zach Price. Price retired the next two batters to keep the 4-run edge.
