Scots Blank Titans

Jamaya Mariner made her debut for the women's soccer team in the second half of Sunday's match

OSHKOSH, Wis.- Macalester College (Minn.) scored three goals and kept UW-Oshkosh off the board on Sunday (Sept. 6) to hand the Titans their second loss of the season at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

While both teams attempted four shot in the second half and finished the match with six shots on goal apiece, Macalester (1-1) lead the Titans (1-2), 12-10 in total shots.

The Scots also led in saves by a 6-3 margin and committed five fouls to Oshkosh's eight, but the home eleven were awarded four corner kicks to the visitors' three.

Belle Dehner (Cottage Grove/Monona Grove), Nadia Epshteyn (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) and Addie Wreath (Appleton/Appleton East) paced the Titan attack with two shots each. Along with Dehner and Epshteyn, Oshkosh put six total shots on goal. The remaining four came from Ariana Gonzalez (Appleton/Appleton North), Addyson Edwards (Appleton/Appleton West), Maddie Daigle (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy) and Nora Lonergan (Oak Creek/Oak Creek).

Larissa Likes (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) started in goal for Oshkosh and saved two shots from the Scots but allowed another two for scores. Jamaya Mariner (Green Bay/Green Bay East), who did not play soccer last year due to an injury and made her Titan debut for the flag football team last spring, played the second half and made another save while giving up the third Scot goal.

The Scots took a 2-0 lead into halftime after scoring in the 33rd and 45th minutes. Their second goal came just three seconds before the end of the period.

Macalester tallied its third goal of the game in the 58th minute on a free kick following a yellow card that was issued to Ryley Meenk (Waukesha/Waukesha South).

The Titans wrap up their homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 9), hosting Milwaukee School of Engineering.
