Titans Triumph Over Pointers In Regular-Season Finale

Lindsey Luedke (Fr. • Howard) posted four hits and a game-winning homer as UW-Oshkosh swept UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday (May 1) in Stevens Point.

Courtney Wautier (Sr. • Brussels) earned her 15th win of the season as the Titans took the opener, 6-2. The second contest required nine innings, with Luedke's solo shot providing the 9-8 victory.

Hayden Krueger (Fr. • Bristol) totaled six hits to finish conference play with a .456 batting average.

UW-Oshkosh (24-10/11-5 WIAC) jumped on top right away with a run-scoring double by Tess Fadness (Jr. • Eau Claire) in the opener's first inning. Fadness then scored on a double steal to make it 2-0.

The Pointers (19-17/5-11 WIAC) tallied their runs on a groundout in the first and Alyssa Trautman's solo home run during the second.

Emily Mallek (So. • Plover) ripped a RBI single in the third frame to make it 4-2. In the fifth, Kassie Krueger (Jr. • Plover) put the game away with a two-run single to left field.

Wautier allowed two earned runs on seven hits in a complete game. Michelle Jones took the loss with five ER in five innings.

UW-Oshkosh amassed a 7-1 lead in the nightcap using three runs in both the second and fifth frames. Mallek's two-run double gave the Titans a 5-1 cushion. Fadness then crushed a solo homer in the sixth.

Katie Shulfer led off the sixth with a solo homer to start the Pointer rally. During the seventh, Bekah Rennicke connected for a home run and Kendall Nelson came through with a two-run single to tie the score at 7.

Each team recorded a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Luedke then stepped up in the ninth and launched one over the LF wall for the winning margin.

Wautier tossed three relief innings, striking out three, for the win. Titan starter Jill Vondrak (Jr. • Westchester, Ill.) allowed seven runs on 17 hits over the first six frames.

Kali Riddell was the losing pitcher, yielding nine runs on 14 hits over nine innings.
