Box Score

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team has opened the 2021 season with three straight shutouts following its 4-0 win over Bethel University (Minn.) on Monday (Sept. 6) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh, which began the year with a 7-0 victory over Ripon College on Sept. 1 and a 6-0 triumph over Marian University on Sept. 4, hasn't started a season with three consecutive shutouts since 2003. The Titans' 3-0 record is their best since opening 4-0 in 2012.

Maddie Hill put UW-Oshkosh ahead for good in Sunday's match with her goal during the 10th minute (9:39) of play. Hill's second goal of the season, a 10-yard kick, followed passes from Alayna Clark and Molly Jackson.

Mallory Knight scored the next two goals for the Titans to increase her season amount to three. Knight gave UW-Oshkosh a 2-0 lead with her 15-yard kick off a pass from Clark during the game's 20th minute (19:06) of activity. She then tripled the Titans' advantage with her 10-yard kick off a serve from Rylie Kaufmann in the 26th minute (25:38).

UW-Oshkosh held its 3-0 lead until Greta Hanthorn scored her first collegiate goal on a 20-yard kick during the contest's 69th minute (68:08). Hanthorn's score was created by a pass from Kaufmann.

The Titans have now scored 17 goals this year, the most in the first three matches of a season in program history (28 years).

UW-Oshkosh totaled 24 shots against its first-time opponent, including 14 in the first half. The Titans were led by the five shots from Clark, four from Knight and the three from both Hanthorn and Hill.

Bethel University (2-1) was held to just eight shots, including only one on goal. The Royals had eight players attempt one shot each.

UW-Oshkosh has now outshot its three opponents this season by a 102-14 tally (54-3 in shots on goal).

Erin Toomey guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal for the entire match and registered her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Toomey's lone save on Sunday came off a kick from the Royals' Claire Raddatz in the game's 19th minute of play.

Bethel University had two goalkeepers see action – Izzy Smith for 71 minutes and Megan Duff for 19. Smith allowed four goals and saved seven shots while Duff stopped one shot in holding the Titans scoreless.

UW-Oshkosh, which hasn't allowed a goal in its last 305 minutes played (dating back to the 2019 season after the 2020 campaign was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic), concludes its season-opening four-match homestand with Wednesday's match at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium against Lakeland University (0-2).
