Titans Cruise To Win Over Pipers

Nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh had a record-breaking performance on the vault during its easy 191.075-179.375 women's gymnastics victory over Hamline University (Minn.) Thursday (Feb. 3) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked second in the Division III Rating Index compiled by RoadToNationals.com, established a new school mark with its five-person team score of 48.350. The Titans also achieved team scores of 48.075 in the floor exercise, 47.750 on the balance beam and 46.90 on the uneven bars.

Hamline University accumulated its overall team value with scores of 45.825 in the floor exercise, 45.675 on the vault, 44.825 on the balance beam and 43.050 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh dominated the individual results against the Pipers by registering the top six scores on the vault and five of the top six grades in the balance beam, floor exercise and uneven bars categories.

Titans Emily Buffington and Emily Gilot shared first place on the vault with their school-record scores of 9.80. UW-Oshkosh also had Rahdea Jarvis finish third with a figure of 9.625, Audrey Koester fourth at 9.60, Mia Lucero fifth at 9.525 and Trinity Sawyer sixth at 9.45. The scores by Buffington and Koester were personal bests.

UW-Oshkosh's Olivia Keller earned first place on the balance beam with her score of 9.625. The Titans additionally had Kaylie Berens and Anna Zoromski list second with counts of 9.55, Kaira Hammond fourth at 9.525 and Delaney Cienkus fifth at 9.50.

In the floor exercise, Jarvis won the event with a career-best score of 9.75. UW-Oshkosh also had Keller and Sawyer finish second with marks of 9.675, Alyssa Nore fourth at 9.55 and Cienkus fifth at 9.425. The figure by Nore established a personal high.

Gilot tallied her second victory of the meet with her score of 9.45 on the uneven bars. UW-Oshkosh also had Meaghan O'Connor place second with an evaluation of 9.425, Sawyer third at 9.375, Buffington fourth at 9.35 and Amanda Zeilinger fifth at 9.30.

Hamline University's Nikki Johnsen compiled a score of 36.275 as the lone contestant in the all-around competition.

UW-Oshkosh competes in a dual at Winona State University (Minn.) next Thursday (Feb. 10).
