Titans Fall To Eagles At Home In WIAC Opener

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team lost to UW-La Crosse 3-1 on Wednesday (Sept. 30) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Kate Whitney (Jr. • Skokie, Ill.) scored the lone goal for the Titans (1-7-3, 0-1 WIAC) in the 61st minute. Riley Kauffman (Sr. • St. Charles, Ill.), Mackenzie Stein (Jr. • Palatine, Ill.), Brianna Kehl (Fr. • Oconomowoc), and Alayna Clark (Jr. • Watertown) also recorded shots in the match. Kauffman took a hit on a corner kick in the 90th minute that went off the crossbar.

The Eagles (9-1, 1-0 WIAC) recorded 19 shots in the match. Maggie Hernandez, Ainsley Allan, and Sera Speltz each scored a goal in the first half. UW-Oshkosh held the Eagles scoreless in the second half, including four saves by goalkeeper Emma Sauriol (Jr. • New Lenox, Ill.).

Defensively, Sauriol finished the game with six total saves for the Titans.

The Titans will return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 4) against UW-Whitewater, looking to pull ahead in the 17-17-4 series tie.
