STEVENS POINT, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team defeated UW-Stevens Point at the Pointers' University Courts on Friday (Oct. 11), cruising to a score of 7-2.

The Titans (8-3, 3-2 WIAC) swept through the doubles matches and won four of the six singles contests over the Pointers (5-3, 2-3 WIAC).

Olivia Pethan (So. • Oshkosh) and
Alysa Pattee (Sr. • Waupun) bested Tristin Jantz and Jordan Scharf 8-3 in the top doubles flight, followed in order by
Mana Usui (Fr. • Franklin) and
Kayla Gibbs (So. • Muskego) at No. 2 (8-4) and
Brianna Owens (Fr. • Appleton) and
Courtney Carpenter (Jr. • Oshkosh) at No. 3 (8-5).

UW-Stevens Point earned its two points in the Nos. 6 and 5 singles flights. Usui's second position 6-1, 6-1 win was the third singles match to finish, followed by Pethan with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 flight. Gibbs defeated Scharf at No. 4, 7-5, 6-3 and Pattee wrapped up the win at the third position.

The Titans return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 19, facing UW-Whitewater (4-1, 2-1 WIAC) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
