Titans Hang Three On Blue Devils In Conference Win

Gabby Born recorded two goals in the Titans' win over UW-Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory against UW-Stout on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Nelson Field in a crucial WIAC matchup.
 
The Titans (2-9-2, 1-2-0 WIAC) overcame an early goal by UW-Stout's (0-9-2, 0-3-0 WIAC) Anna Odisho, who scored just 46 seconds into the match, assisted by Lauren Chukel. Gabby Born (Jr. • Fond du Lac) responded quickly, leveling the game in the sixth minute off an assist from Greta Steines (Sr. • Eau Claire). Born then netted her second of the game in the 18th minute with Maris Heun (Jr. • Watertown, Minn.) providing the assist, putting UW-Oshkosh ahead 2-1 at halftime.
 
Odisho equalized for the Blue Devils in the 61st minute with a penalty kick, but the Titans fought back once again, with Brynn Higgins (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.) scoring the decisive goal in the 77th minute to seal the 3-2 win.
 
Goalkeeper Emma Sauriol (Sr. • New Lenox, Ill.) made eight key saves to help preserve the Titans' victory. UW-Oshkosh registered 12 shots to UW-Stout's 13, while the Blue Devils held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. The Titans committed 11 fouls compared to Stout's 6.
