Titans Fall In Close Match With Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh Titans fell to conference foe UW-Stevens Point in a tight 1-0 contest at the UWSP Turf Facility on Wednesday night (Oct 23).

The Pointers (6-5-5, 3-1-1 WIAC) out shot the Titans (2-11-2, 1-4 WIAC) with 15 (two on goal) to the Titans 10 (three on goal). Both teams took three corner kicks and the Pointers fouled just eight times to the Titans' 11.

Offensively, Oshkosh was led by defender Shannon Walsh (So. • Des Plaines, Ill.) and forward Lauren Janssens (Jr. • Oregon) with the pair tallying two shots.  Both of Walsh's shots were on goal (seventh and 52nd minutes), with one from Janssen's shots being on goal (24th minute). Oshkosh goalkeeper Emma Sauriol (Sr. • New Lenox, Ill.) recorded a save in the match.

After a scoreless first half, the Pointers broke through in the 49th minute, with a goal off of the foot of Pointer midfielder Kayce Wadas, assisted by forwards Gabby Dunn and Christa Borchardt.

The Titans will travel to River Falls for another conference matchup against the Falcons at Ramer Soccer Stadium on Saturday (Oct 26).
