MENOMONIE/ALTOONA, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team traveled up to the northwest corner of Wisconsin on Saturday (Oct. 5), facing UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire. The Titans dominated the Blue Devils in an impressive 9-0 victory at the South Tennis Courts in Menomonie before heading to Altoona's 10th Street Park to face the Blugolds, losing 8-1.

The Titans improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in WIAC play in their first match, overpowering the Blue Devils (1-10, 0-5 WIAC) in both doubles and singles.

In doubles, the duo of
Olivia Pethan (So. • Oshkosh) and
Alysa Pattee (Sr. • Waupun) led the way with an 8-2 win at No. 1, while
Kayla Gibbs (So. • Muskego) and
Mana Usui (Fr. • Franklin) delivered an 8-1 victory at the second flight.
Courtney Carpenter (Jr. • Oshkosh) and
Brianna Owens (Fr. • Appleton) completed the sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3.

The singles competition saw dominance across the board. Pethan showcased her skill with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles, while
Mana Usui delivered a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2. Pattee, Gibbs, and Owens each won their respective matches with minimal resistance.
Vianna Dao (Fr. • Oshkosh) added the final point with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 win at No. 6 singles in a 10-8 tiebreaker to seal the clean sweep.

UW-Oshkosh then traveled to compete against UW-Eau Claire (5-1, 5-1 WIAC), winning a doubles match in the contest.

The Titans' victory came in the No. 2 doubles match, where Usui and Gibbs secured a strong 8-2 win. In No. 1 doubles, Pethan and Pattee lost 8-2, while Owens and Carpenter fell 8-3 in No. 3 doubles.

Singles matches were equally challenging for the Titans, as UW-Eau Claire's Samantha Fuchs defeated Pethan 6-1, 6-2 in the top singles flight. No. 2 singles saw a fierce contest, with Usui pushing the match to a third set, ultimately falling 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6). Pattee, Gibbs, Owens, and Dao were unable to overcome their opponents in the remaining singles matches.

UW-Oshkosh will look to rebound in their upcoming match at UW-Stevens Point (5-2, 2-2 WIAC) on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Pointers' University Courts.
