TIFFIN, Ohio- The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team came back from being down 18 points to defeat Manchester University (Ind.) on Saturday (Nov. 16) 90-84, securing the Heidelberg University (Ohio) Ron Linhart Memorial Tournament championship win.

Both teams shot the ball well from the field with Oshkosh (2-1) shooting 50 percent (29-of-58) to Manchester's (2-1) 47.5 percent (29-of-61). The Titans were dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Spartans 47 to 19. Oshkosh's bench also showed up in a big way Saturday night by scoring 23 points.

Michael Metcalf-Grassman (So. • Shawano/Waukesha) led the team with 29 points and 10 rebounds in his 26 minutes on the floor, recording his second double-double of the season, also earning him the honor of tournament MVP.
Jonah Rindfleisch (Sr. • Milwaukee) had a solid performance as well scoring 16 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out two assists while securing a spot on the all-tournament team.

The first five minutes of the contest were neck-and-neck with both teams scoring 10 points. Manchester then went on a 7-2 run to go up with 13:37 in the half. Oshkosh then went on an 8-4 run to come within a point at 21-20 with just under halfway to go in the first period. The Spartans bounced back with a 17-8 run to go up 38-25 headed into the break.Â

The Spartans opened the second half with an 8-1 run to put them ahead 46-29 with only two minutes ticked off the clock. The Titans then produced a 6-0 run to reduce the deficit to 46-35, followed by an 11-9 run to cut the lead down to single digits (55-46) with 13 minutes left in the contest. Metcalf-Grassman then took the game into his hands and led the Titans to a 16-7 run, where he scored 12 points in five and a half minutes, to tie the game at 62 with just under eight minutes to go. The two teams then went back and forth for the next four minutes each scoring eight points, tying the game up at 70 with four minutes to go. Oshkosh closed out the game by scoring 20 points to the Spartans' 14 to win the contest, 90-84.

The Titans are scheduled to face Carroll University on Wednesday (Nov 20) at 7 p.m. in Oshkosh for their first home matchup of the year.
